Bimmer Invasion Los Angeles 2026: Forty Years of M3 at Fairplex

Seven themed halls, an unroped E90 M3 CRT and a hall given over to forty years of the M3. A recap of Bimmer Invasion Los Angeles 2026 at Fairplex, built from the organizer's own page and the coverage published after the show.

Bimmer Invasion took its West Coast show back to Fairplex in Pomona on Saturday, September 12, 2026, with seven themed indoor halls. One of them was given over entirely to the M3's 40th anniversary. This recap covers what the organizer planned, what the published coverage says stood out, and what the show says about where BMW builds are heading. It draws only on the organizer's event page and coverage published in the week after the show.

Bimmer Invasion Los Angeles 2026 at a glance

The official event page billed it as "the 2026 INVASION of Los Angeles". It was presented by IND and powered by Fortis Watches.

  • When and where: Saturday, September 12, 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at the Fairplex Pomona Fairgrounds.
  • What could enter: BMW cars and motorcycles. The only non-BMW exceptions were MINI, Rolls-Royce and the A90/A91 Supra.
  • Show cars: Indoor display cars had to apply, be approved and arrive on Friday for setup.
  • Tickets: General admission was $45, kids 12 and under were free, and Fairplex charged $25 for parking.
  • Vendors: "approximately 75", according to the organizer's FAQ.

Bimmer Invasion is an independent organizer. Its Our Story page says it started in early 2020 with events in Florida and is "Not affiliated with BMW AG or BMW NA." In BMWBLOG's recap, Horatiu Boeriu reports that the organizers put the overall show at around 1,500 cars. The first show, in 2020, had about 500 cars in a high school parking lot.

Seven halls, each with its own brief

The halls are what set this show apart from an open-lot meet. Each had a theme, an application process and a hard cap on cars. BMWBLOG notes there were seven, up from five the last time the show came to Fairplex.

Hall Organizer's brief Indoor cap
The ULTIMATE Hall VIP show cars and the VIP hospitality lounge 50
40 Years of M3 M3s only, "ranging from timeless E30s to modern G80s" 35
The M Division M cars only 35
F8x VS G8x Arena F8x cars facing G8x M2, M3 and M4 cars 30
Vintage Vault BMWs produced in 2001 or earlier 30
Motorsport Legends Race, drift, drag and high-performance builds, plus BMW motorcycles 35
Taste the Rainbow BMW Individual colors only, one car per color 30

Two smaller exhibits sat inside the ULTIMATE Hall. The Wheel Gallery showed eight cars on HRE wheels and eight on BBS. The Bupra Collection held eight A90/A91 Supra builds. By mid-August, the FAQ listed most indoor displays as sold out.

Inside the 40 Years of M3 hall

The organizer described "a dedicated exhibit hall for M3s, as this is BMW's 40th anniversary of the M3." BMW counts 2026 the same way. Its Amelia Concours release says the M3 was "released in 1986 as a homologation special for Group A racing competition." Our piece on forty years of the M3 covers each generation.

BMWBLOG describes the cars lined up so you could "read the color history off a single row: Imola Red, Cedar Red, Laguna Seca Blue." Its writer's favorite in the hall was an E46 wagon converted to M3 spec.

What stood out on the show floor

  • An unroped E90 M3 CRT. BMWBLOG found one of the 67 CRTs BMW built in 2011, none sold in the US, parked with no rope at the head of the ULTIMATE Hall. IND Distribution's write-up credits the car, #61, to Enthusiast Auto Group and says it has fewer than 3,000 miles.
  • Taste the Rainbow. Paint only, no wraps. BMWBLOG counted around 30 BMW Individual colors, each with a floor plaque giving the color name and code. That makes it a useful reference if you're choosing a color for an order or a respray.
  • The Wheel Gallery. BBS faced HRE, so visitors could compare the same design on different chassis a few feet apart.
  • Motorsport Legends. New for 2026, this hall included a retired Turner Motorsport M8 GTE.
  • Vintage Vault. 2002s, including a 2002 Turbo, E39 M5s, and a single-turbo E30 in Polizei livery.
  • Track time. The BMW Performance Driving School was signing people up for track days. If you're thinking about your first one, start with our first track day checklist.

"Wheels, stance, carbon, paint"

The most useful line in the coverage is about build culture, not any single car. BMWBLOG asked Ken Fong of Bimmer Invasion to compare the two coasts. He said the East Coast show leans toward power and the LA cars lean toward aesthetics, which BMWBLOG summed up as "Wheels, stance, carbon, paint." The writer adds that wheel and tire combinations "look chosen rather than ordered." He credits that partly to the application-only indoor halls.

That matches our view of street-driven M cars. The ones that look finished usually had wheel offset, tire size, ride height and alignment planned together rather than bought one piece at a time. Our BMW wheel offset guide explains how to plan that. For the wider shift toward OEM+ parts, carbon and factory paint, see BMW build trends in 2026.

For Arizona BMW owners

Bimmer Invasion's shows run in Florida and Southern California, and there is no Arizona date on its event list. BMWBLOG says the next show is West Palm Beach in 2027. Pomona is within a day's drive of the Valley, but an indoor spot means applying months ahead and setting up on the Friday before the show.

Southern California has also been central to BMW's own M3 anniversary in the US. BMW chose the All-BMW Petersen Cruise-In in Los Angeles on May 23 for the public debut of the M3 CS Handschalter, a manual, rear-drive M3 built only for North America.

If you'd rather drive than show, Arizona's track season restarts as the weather cools. Our Arizona race tracks guide covers the options.

If you plan to show a car next year

  • Apply early. For 2026, indoor applications were due by July 31.
  • Plan wheels, tires and ride height together, and have the alignment checked after any ride-height change. Our wheel and tire services cover fitment, mounting and alignment.
  • Sort the paint before it sits under hall lighting. Paint correction, ceramic coating and paint protection film are all on our cosmetic upgrades page.
  • Prepare for the drive. Check tires, cooling and fluids before a long highway run in desert heat.

If you're getting a BMW ready for next season, we start with a conversation about the car and an in-person look before we recommend anything. Schedule a visit when it suits you.
